Percheron Operating is Hiring a Landman (In House) Near The Woodlands, TX

Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to perform land-related activities for oil and gas exploration and development, including, but not limited to oil and gas leasing, mineral purchasing, title curative, well-staking, waterline and well line easement acquisition, and ingress/egress at drilling locations.

  • Responsible for researching, negotiating and acquiring land agreements for the purpose of oil and gas exploration, production and development that meet the organization's goals.
  • Search for and determines various land ownership interests, including, but not limited to, mineral ownership and the locations of such owners.
  • Work within the parameters set by the client insofar as negotiation terms.
  • Draft contracts required to satisfy client requirements.
  • Prepare adequate daily activity reports and special landman reports relative to complex negotiations, damage settlements, and/or title curative instruments.
  • Perform internal and external due diligence to ensure accuracy and completeness of land rights or to identify and bring forward deficiencies requiring remedial action.
  • Serve as liaison with the landowner on ownership, rights, damage claims, and access issues.
  • Effectively use established company and client policies, procedures, and processes to perform work.
  • Maintain up-to-date status with the Project Manager or client to ensure the assignment is completed following the client's procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Duties

  • Interpreting and negotiating of various contracts including Joint Operating Agreements, Farmout Agreements, Oil and Gas Leases, Surface Use Agreements, Right of Way Agreements, etc,
  • Conduct title review, understand necessary curative determinations to resolve defects or make appropriate business risk determinations,
  • Work with legal department in the preparation and analysis of complex and non-standard types of contracts Work with land services department and land support personnel to maintain the land records system,
  • Work closely with Drilling, Completions, Geology and Development teams on all operational activity,
  • Assemble acreage data and maps,
  • Support BD with various tasks including but not limited to; reviewing records, preparing schedules and preparation of various deal documents,
  • Prepare Title Clearance Memorandums and Title Handoffs to Land Services,
  • Manage a budget and provide a detail account of all Land related expenditures.
Job Requirements:
  • At least three (3) years of related professional sales/business experience or a degree in Energy Land Management is required.
  • Good understanding of applicable laws, rules, regulations, procedures, terminology, and real property acquisition policies and procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of various land-related contracts and agreements.
  • Proficient in utilizing MS Office products and databases, performing online research, and reading and understanding maps.
  • Ability to plan and organize workload, adjust to changing priorities, and work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently, plan and adhere to a schedule, and report progress timely.
  • Must be ethical and honest in dealings with landowners, clients, and the company.
  • Must be proficient in understanding the conveyance of real property.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be customer-focused.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with others.
  • Exercise good judgment and has experience handling confidential information.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the American Association of Professional Landmen (“AAPL”).
  • Ability to work autonomously and to collaborate fully as a team player.
  • Ability to pay close attention to details, and present good planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance as per work schedule agreed with the manager (may require working an adjusted work schedule based on project assigned and work overtime if warranted).
  • Ability to comply with applicable laws and regulations and Company policies and procedures.
